A regular meeting of the Athens Township Board of Trustees will be held on Tuesday, August 11, 2026 starting at 5:30 PM at the Athens Township Hall, 313 W. Union Street, Athens, OH 45701. All meetings of the Board are held in accordance with the open meetings requirements of the Ohio Revised Code. Athens Township and the Athens Township Board of Trustees support the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). The township is governed by a three-member board of trustees, who are elected in November of odd-numbered years to a four-year term beginning on the following January 1.

ATHENS TOWNSHIP TRUSTEES ADOPT DATA CENTER MORITORIUM RESOLUTION
On Saturday, August 1, 2026, the Athens Township Trustees met in special session and adopted Resolution 08-01-2026, “A RESOLUTION DECLARING A TEMPORARY MORATORIUM ON THE RECEIPT OF APPLICATIONS, PROCESSING, OR APPROVAL OF APPLICATIONS FOR ZONING CERTIFICATES FOR DATA CENTER DEVELOPMENT WITHIN THE ZONED PORTION OF ATHENS TOWNSHIP, ATHENS COUNTY, OHIO, AND TO ALLOW FOR THE STUDY AND ADOPTION OF AMENDMENTS TO THE “ZONING CODE FOR A PORTION OF ATHENS TOWNSHIP IN THE PLAINS, OHIO”
