Athens Township

The township is governed by a three-member board of trustees, who are elected in November of odd-numbered years to a four-year term beginning on the following January 1.

Athens Township is one of the fourteen townships of Athens County, Ohio and 1,308 in the State of Ohio.

The Athens Township Board of Trustees will meet in regular session on Tuesday, August 11, 2026 at the Athens Township Hall, 313 W. Union Street, Athens, OH 45701 starting at 5:30 PM.

Meetings of the Trustees are open to the public as required by Ohio Revised Code Section 121.22. Public attendance is encouraged an every agenda includes a public participation section.

Meetings are open to the public as required by Ohio Revised Code Section 121.22 and the public is encouraged to attend.

Meet Elected Officials

In Athens Township, trustees are responsible for managing the township’s affairs, including overseeing roads, fire and police protection, cemeteries, parks and recreation, zoning, and waste disposal, as well as managing the township budget and assets.
